ALABAMA EQUINE PROGRAMS
Undergraduate degrees are available at Auburn University and Judson College. Additionally, while there are only just over thirty Veterinary Programs in the U.S., Alabama offers two of these prorams at Auburn University and Tuskegee University. level.
Auburn University
is located in Auburn, Alabama, and offers a B.S. in Equine Science through the College of Agriculture. The coursework includes breeding, genetics, equine marketing and equine coaching. Auburn also operates the
Auburn Horse Center
with a stable of Quarter Horses and two performance arenas. The University also fields the
Auburn Women's Equestrian Team,
competing in Hunt Seat and Western. The Women's Equestrian Team also operates several summer camps.
The USDA Extension Program in Alabama
is operated through both Auburn University and Alabama A&M University.
Judson College
(also a Spotlight College) is located in Marion, Alabama, and it offers three equine academic programs:
Equine Business Management (B.S.);
Equine Science (Minor);
and
Equine Facilitated Mental Health (B.S.).

Judson Equestrian Facility
The Auburn University
College of Veterinary Medicine
offers both a Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Program, including a specialty in Equine Surgery, Equine Medicine, and Equine Podiatry. The Veterinary Sports Medicine Center at Auburn offers eavluations in
Equine Performance.
Tuskegee University,
in Tuskegee, Alabama, also provides a
College of Veterinary Medicine.
The Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine offers a Doctoral Doctoral Degree in Veterinary Medicine. The College also operates a Teaching Hospital
that provides Equine Services including vaccinations, colic, orthopedic and surgical care, and lameness evaluations. Tuskegee also conducts an
Annual Horse Health Fair
that provides examinations, nutritional information, vaccinations for Rabies, West Nile, Strangles, and other diseases plus Coggins Tests for minimal fees. Tuskegee also collaborates on veterinary programs with Auburn.
